Is it hard to install this hood myself?
Since there is
electrical (for power), duct work (for venting) and structural
(hanging the hood to the wall), it does take some level of skill
and knowledge to install a range hood and this type of job is
generally beyond the capability of most home owners. We always
recommend leaving the installation to a professional. However,
many homeowners opt to install the hood themselves and do so successfully.
If you do decide to install yourself, we suggest you check with
the local building codes and get any necessary permits, and it
would be a good idea to pick up a "do-it-yourself" kitchens book
from a home improvement center or hardware store.
Back
What
does the finish look like?
The
finish has an appearance similar to an old stucco wall. It is
applied rough, then smoothed down so it has some flat smooth areas
and some raised areas. It is also applied heavy and dried fast so
it develops small stress cracks to give it an aged look, These
cracks are meant to be there and in no way hurt the durability of
the finish and it will not continue to crack. See the photos page
for a close-up photo of the finish.

What
if I don't like my hood?
Your
hood can be returned as long as it has not been installed. We can
not accept hoods that have been painted, cut, drilled or otherwise modified
from their original appearance. The full purchase price of the
hood will be refunded (sorry, but shipping charges can not be
refunded).
Back
Is
there a guarantee/warranty?
All
hoods are guaranteed for material durability and craftsmanship.
Defective hoods can be returned for exchange or money back. We
carefully inspect all hoods before they leave the factory and no
hood leaves if there is any sign of defect.
Back
What
do I paint the hood with?
You
can paint the hood with any type of Interior latex or oil based
paint. You can use any soft bristle brush or 3/8 nap roller.
CAREFULLY follow the directions of the paint or stain you decide
to use. We can not accept returns on hoods that have been painted
or stained.
Back
What
kind of stain should I use?
We
recommend oil based stain be applied with a soft lint free cloth
or a stain brush. CAREFULLY follow the directions of the paint or
stain you decide to use. We can not accept returns on hoods that
have been painted or stained.
Back
What
is the hood made of?
All
of our hoods are made of plywood and premium hardwoods. No
particle board, MDF or flake board is ever used. All joints are
nailed and glued and guaranteed not to separate. The finish is similar to
a stucco wall, and after it's painted will be durable and easily
cleaned.
Back
Where
are the hoods made?
The
hoods are made in our manufacturing facility in Manchester
Township, New Jersey, USA.
Back
What is the liner made of?
The liner is
22ga. Type 304 Stainless Steel with a #4 Finish. Type 304 with a
#4 Finish is what is used on almost every stainless steel
kitchen appliance. A #4 Finish is a brushed finish, not a shinny
(mirror) finish.

What
di I need to know about the exhaust fan/light inserts?
We recommend an exhaust/light kit be purchased from us. We are
an authorized dealer Fujioh and they have a excellent line of
exhaust/light inserts. When you purchase one from us, we install
it for free. If you choose to install one yourself, you can do
so by cutting out the appropriate size hole in the stainless
steel liner we provide with all of our hoods. The stainless
steel liner in the bottom of the hood can be easily cut with tin-snips or a jig-saw
(with a metal cutting blade) to accommodate many size exhaust/light
inserts. The inside of the hood is hollow so ducting can be run
out the back or up through the top. As always, we recommend the exhaust and any
necessary electrical work be performed/installed by an experienced
professional.
Back
I
have a wall vent in my kitchen, will these hoods work?
As
long as your existing exhaust will be covered by the hood, then it
should work. However, it is important to check the size and
location of the exhaust and ensure it will fall completely behind
the hood. The back of the hood is one piece plywood and can accommodate
a 12" hole near the bottom, a 8" hole in the middle, and
a 6" hole near the top. If the hood does not fit over your
wall exhaust, you will have to either move it or
exhaust out out the top.
